Review of Magcraft NSN0641 1/2-Inch by 1/4-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 8-Count

I bought these cylidrical, 1/2" x 1/4" neodymium magnets hoping to use them as very strong refrigerator magnets, since their basic shape is not 'flat' but they have some vertical height to them.(I've tried "Magnutz" designed for fridges, but they're a bit weaker than I'd like; those contain much smaller neodymium magnets.)

I found these magnets quite strong, well-made.I don't anticipate their chipping with use, for example; I suspect they've got a stainless steel covering, although the magcraft website doesn't specify. As a fridge magnet, these are a tad TOO strong if you use them as is; they're rather difficult to get off the metal surface.E.g. if a bunch of them stick together in a stack, I can't pull them apart directly, but have to laterally slide one off the other.(Note, the description of approx. 10 lbs pulling weight each magnet seems approximately correct.Gotta get a good grip to get one of these off the fridge; I can do it, my wife can't quite.)

To make perfect extra-strong refrigerator or workplace magnets out of these, all you need to do is find some sort of container for them that you can use to "grab" the magnet.E.g. glue one of these magnets to the bottom of the tiny scoops that come with baby formula powder... or, I found it easy to sew a magnet inside a piece of 2" square cloth, making a tiny sack that works perfectly as an extremely -- extremely! strong refrigerator magnet, easy to grab & use.(Hey, someone could do some business making these...)

Whether or not the magnets fit my particular purpose: you should know that these magnets are quite strong, certainly well made, beautiful little items, seem to be designed to take a good beating.

They are certainly too strong to give a kid to play with; very little creative capacity, it seems, when they're this strong. And, they are strong enough to magnetize small iron objects, so watch out how you use them.

Review of Magcraft NSN0732 3/8-Inch by 1/16-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 40-Count

Neodymium-Iron-Boron rare earth magnet: 3/8" wafers... The north and south poles are through an axis of the "cylinder", as you would expect. This means they want to form a long "rod". It is almost impossible to push them north to north, or south to south pole (probably 10-15 lbs of force). When you play with them like this, they actually start to get hot from the magnetic "friction. You can make one of them "dance" and stand on edge at about 6" away. Don't throw them, or let them "snap" back into the stack, these wafers are very brittle (I've already cracked one). They seem to be chrystaline or cast metal, but chromed.

Review of Magcraft NSN0579 1/4-Inch by 1/8-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 40-Count

These are very powerful little magnets. They are not for small children. They are great for organizing the kid's artwork and such on your fridge.Just a couple of them are enough to hold our large calender to the fridge. When transporting my kitchen knife to a picnic or BBQ, I make a sheath by rolling up the knife in several layers of paper from a brown paper bag and then use a couple of these magnets to secure it.The paper doesn't unroll or slip off the knife.I put one magnet in the tip of the driver bit for my drill/driver, now I can dip the tip into a box of screws and pull out six or seven at a time.I bought some larger magnets also, they are insanely powerful!I use one to help keep my screw and nail containers organized. No more poked fingers trying to get sheetrock screws out from the bottom of my bag.A fun and useful product.

Review of Magnet Key and Holder by Kidco (contains 1 key and 1 key holder)

I used these to cat-proof my kitchen cabinets and it works like a charm.I didn't want to permanently install anything or mar my cherry cabinets.I installed them at the top center of the cabinet -- not above the handle. I have large pewter handles on the cabinet and had no issue with the magnet not working. I almost didn't buy them initially because someone said they wouldn't work if you have metal handles, but that wasn't true for me.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Magnetic Mini Clips 8-Pack, Assorted Colors

Now that I've ordered my THIRD set of these, I thought it only right that I officially say, I love these magnetic clips.

Though small (about 1" long, 3/4" wide), they are strong enough to easily hold full-page notes without slipping down the fridge. I even have one holding up some of my son's popsicle-stick artwork with no problem. Yet they aren't so strong that you have trouble prying them off of the fridge when you want to.

The colors are very cheerful. Finally, they are a great item to put on your wish list and order sometime when you need to get over the $25 threshold for free shipping.

Review of Magcraft NSN0612 3/4-Inch by 3/4-Inch by 1/8-Inch Rare Earth Block Magnets, 6-Count

These are, as it says on the tin, very strong magnets. It's quite hard to separate them when they stick together, and surprisingly easy to hurt yourself with them, so be careful.

Review of Magcraft NSN0573 3/8-Inch by 1/8-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 30-Count

Here's what you do: get 30 plastic push-pins like folks use on cork-boards.
Light a candle, and hold the tip of a pin over the flame for 5 seconds (be careful, etc.), then pull the heated metal pin out of the plastic with pliers. With a few strokes across a file, make sure the bottom of the plastic (where the pin used to be) is flat.
Lay out your 30 magnets, keeping a generous distance between them as they will "jump" at each other and mess up your work. Mix up some 5-minute epoxy and put a very small amount on the plastic, then squish it down onto a magnet. Repeat until you have an armada of thumbtack magnets.
Once the glue is set, carefully carry the magnets to your fridge and try them out. The magnets really like to be in a stack with one another, and may destroy the plastic you've just glued on if several are loose together. This won't be an issue once they are stuck to your fridge door.
These magnets are exactly the right size for this application, and the thumbtack handle makes them very easy to place and remove.

Review of Magcraft NSN0640 1/2-Inch by 1/16-Inch Rare Earth Disc Magnets, 24-Count

These are not the cheesy magnets you would pick up from the planetarium/science store 10 or 20 years ago. These are high strength magnets that allow you to do amazing things around the house and office.

Do note that because of thinness of these magnets compared to their magnetic strength, you may crack/break them if using a tool (like pliers)to pry them off a surface they are stuck to.

Geeky fun.

Review of Magcraft NSN0834 1-Inch by 1/4-Inch by 1/10-Inch Rare Earth Block Magnets, 12-Count

Be aware! These babies are ridiculous strong!!!! They are very hard to pull apart. They are also very hard to pull from any surface. I have to slide them on the surface to get to the edge of the surface to be able to get some leverage to pull it off. They might just be too strong for what I need. That's the only reason why I'm rating 4 stars instead of 5.

Review of Magcraft NSN0587 3/4-Inch by 1/5-Inch by 1/8-Inch Rare Earth Ring Magnets, 6-Count

These magnets are great! They will jump out of your hand and smack together and could chip the nickel plating so be careful with them if you want them to stay pretty.Strong enough to damage CRT monitors and other electronics. Not recommended (by me) for children without supervision. Perfect for picking up metal objects, perhaps too much for sticking pictures to the fridge. Will hold up a 12 month calendar with no problems.

You can do crazy stuff with a little imagination. Don't do the "magnetic ear ring" thing with these because you won't do it twice. Take a fool's advice and trust me on this one.

The Magcraft 1" Disc Magnets are very strong and well made. These are very high quality magnets that are perfect for science projects.

These large disk magnets can hold a lot of weight and some care should be taken when you have a bunch of them together as they are very powerful. We have taken the advice of other reviewers and have not made the mistake of letting these smash together, so have not seen the chipping problem some others have reported.

Be sure to save the packaging as it is well made and likely the best way to store these when not in use.

Highly recommended!
