VERY strong.The size combined with the strength of them make them very hard to take apart.You can use the edge of a table to help separate them.Magnets are brittle.Allowing them to slam together WILL result in them chipping.They are also almost too strong to have them NOT slam together...They are strong enough to pinch fingers pretty good too.Not a toy (for little kids, anyway...).
Packaging is pretty neat as well.Fun magnets.
