Review of Oxo Good Grips Bag Clips, Set of 4

I just love these things!I have had this set for about 4 years and not one has broken.I use them for chips as well as freezer items.

Another feature that I enjoy is not having to dig through a kitchen drawer to find them since they stick to the fridge.

Update 11/07/08
After 4 years I still have three of the 4 clips.Only one has broken and since they stick to the fridge I have not even lost one of the clips. This to me is impressive!

Review of Oxo Good Grips Bag Clips 2-Pack ,White

Well, what can really be said about this item... it's a bag clip, and it's white. It's large, designed for bigger bags like full sized potato chip, or cookie bags, it seems quite durable, it looks rather stylish, and it clips things shut to keep them fresh.

The way I look at it, if this saves me from having two bags of cookies from going stale, then it'll have paid for itself. It would be nice if it had a magnet on the back though to stick to the fridge or something.

Also, the clips are made in China. I don't understand why we can't even build plastic clips in this country anymore, but that's another story.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Silicone Oven Mitt with Magnet, Black

Let me begin with a positive note on the OXO Good Grips oven mitt:It looks great and the magnet is a good idea. Now for the negative aspects of this item:it's WAY over-priced, especially for how poorly it is designed. The way this oven mitt is designed does not give you a "Good Grip," which is ironic since it's called the "OXO Good Grips" oven mitt. It's hard to explain, but the silicone part is somewhat stiff and when you put your hand in the mitt, you cannot easily grab things, especially if what you're trying to grab is small (like a pan lid) or narrow (like the handles on a roaster pan). It's like this mitt was designed as though the only thing anyone uses an oven mitt for is to take hot cookie sheets out of the oven. I decided not to give it one star ONLY because it does a good job of insulating your hand from high temperatures.I strongly suggest that if you are considering purchasing this OXO mitt, you should go to a store and try it on first to see what you think about the design.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Silicone Oven Mitt with Magnet, Red

I own this mitt and I have been very pleased with it.I got it six months ago, and it has held up excellently through washings and rough treatment!I have not once been burned through it, and it is easy to use even when wet.The little hanger that is attached to it has also not broken, which is unusual for my pot holders-- we cook a lot and they get constant use and abuse.
The only reason I am giving it only four stars is because it is too small for my fiance's hand to fit smoothly in through the wrist area.He does have large hands, but so do a lot of tall men, and they need pot holders too!In addition, I have trouble bending the pot holder when I want to pick up something small. The plastic is just a tad thick for that.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Red Bag Clips, Set of 2

I couldn't get a good look from Amazon's provided image, so I expected the clips to be kinda flimsy, cheap, crackly, chintzy plastic.

They are not at all! The clips are a really solid, great-feeling matte plastic, and the red color looks terrific. They are not shiny, so they do not look cheap. They grip very well and have handy and good-looking rubbery components at the grip and handle.

I am very impressed with these clips. They feel good to use, they look excellent, and the size is perfect for medium to large bags of snacks.

I am currently using 1 for a big bag of tortilla chips, and another is on a big bag of opened dry cat food. I ordered another set after this first 2-pack arrived, as I'm sure they'll always come in handy. Highly recommended!

Review of Oxo Good Grips MagTacks 8-Packs

I must admit that I was apprehensive about spending this much for tacks but I really needed a solution for hanging prints and sketches at my desk without damaging them, so I thought I would give the MagTacks a try. Well, they work great and allow me to pin up my work without fear of damaging it. I also use the tack portion of the MagTack to pin up more permanent work and then use the magnet portion to switch out work as needed. The magnets are super strong and will hold fairly thick cardstock as well.

While I wouldn't get MagTacks for everyday use in the conference room (where they would get lost and stolen) I would recommend a couple of sets for your office and personal work space. I remember thinking that I would never pay $2 for OXO bag clips but now they're a staple in my home and I think the MagTacks are going to be the same in my office.

Product Description:
The OXO Good Grips MagTack is a magnet and pushpin in one. Turn a corkboard or tack board into a magnetic surface by pressing the pin side of the MagTack into the board. Then hold photos, receipts, coupons and notes with the magnetic cap. Removing items from the corkboard is easy since the tack stays put. The MagTack protects photos by securing them with magnets instead of piercing a hole through them. Both magnet and tack have nonslip grips, and when not in use, the pin stores safely inside the top of the magnetic cap.

Review of OXO SteeL Magnetic All-Purpose Clips, 4 Pack

This clip had a strong magnet, good gripping surface and solid construction. They should last a long time without breaking. They are a bit pricy though.

The description says that the clips can stand upright on a flat surface to hold photos or place cards for display. However, they are not flat enough on the back edge to hold a photo or card upright without tipping to the side unless it is perfectly centered and balanced. With these, you would need two clips per photo/card.If you want something for this purpose, go with the plastic OXO mini clips 8 pack. Those are significantly smaller (and cheaper) and have a flatter back edge that lets them easily hold a photo or place card upright.

Review of OXO Good Grips Silicone Oven Mitt with Magnet

This is a hard review. The primary PLUS I suppose is that this item is WONDERFUL for STOPPING HEAT ... and I assume that is the primary reason you buy this.. it is essentially impervious to any heat that you'd normally encounter.. also its nicely lined with a soft and comfortable material, and reaches well up your arm to protect that as well.. how many times have you burned your wrist on the rack or oven side while reaching for a hot item? However it does have it's problems!!

1. The most critical thing is the poor "flex pattern" which makes picking up items and gripping them very awkward. In the least case, I'd order TWO of these if you feel this is the glove you want.. this is so you can use both hands to grip anything you want to pick up.. this is the only way you'll really get much of a grip and be confident that you can move hot items safely to where you're going.

2. This fits poorly. I have largish hands I guess but many men especially will have even larger hands.. the fingers are more than adequate.. they in fact are too long.. 1.5" longer than my fingers.. but it also is very tight around my knuckles (where the fingers join your hand) and even tighter if you try to "grip" something. Though this makes it slightly uncomfortable, the main reason I mention it is that I worry that this MAY eventually pull the seam out..

3. Of lesser issue, but still to be considered is that the material, though tough and rubbery, CAN BE TORN on any jab by a sharp or pointed surface.. and of course once this is done, the glove is pretty much not going to serve it's purpose anymore.

I've looked at other gloves and most have similar or worse problems. I guess we're still just up in the air until someone comes up with the truly functional item.

Review of OXO Good Grips Silicone Pot Holder with Magnet

This is a very nice potholder. I like the large size, the pocket to place my hand inside, the handy magnet which lets me hang it on the fridge. It insulates me from heat very well.

I took a pan out of the oven last night using one of these Good Grips and another standard oven mitt and though I did not burn with either one, I did feel heat coming through the oven mitt. I felt no heat coming through Good Grips. Terrific potholder.

Review of OXO SteeL Magnetic Mini Clips, 6 Pack

These clips have a nice look and seem well-made. It may be difficult to tell from the photos just how "mini" they are. If you plan on using them to hold photos to the refrigerator, you'll be fine. If you want to keep potato chip bags closed, go with a larger option (or be prepared to fold the bags meticulously so the clip will fit).

Review of Oxo Good Grips Magnetic Mini Clips 8-Pack, Assorted Colors

Now that I've ordered my THIRD set of these, I thought it only right that I officially say, I love these magnetic clips.

Though small (about 1" long, 3/4" wide), they are strong enough to easily hold full-page notes without slipping down the fridge. I even have one holding up some of my son's popsicle-stick artwork with no problem. Yet they aren't so strong that you have trouble prying them off of the fridge when you want to.

The colors are very cheerful. Finally, they are a great item to put on your wish list and order sometime when you need to get over the $25 threshold for free shipping.
